The usually rainy Pacific Northwest was uncharacteristically dry from last October through the end of January this year. We were getting worried here in Oregon. Out at the Tualatin River National Wildlife Refuge its namesake river was low and still (see SOMETIMES THE RIVER IS LIKE A MIRROR). But four days of snow (that pretty much paralyzed Portland) followed by rain has changed the picture. The river looked more like Big Muddy when I was there yesterday.
